  • 1 (15.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
  • 1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 4 eggs
  • ¾ cup water
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ (6 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, quartered, juice drained and reserved
  • 1 (12 ounce) bag chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 (12 ounce) can cherry pie filling
